Tall Stacks 2003
Cincinnati, Ohio, USA
October 18, 2003
This year was great ! My neighbor Jimmy won tickets thru his credit union at work. We took a cruise on the Chattanooga Star. It's a smaller boat only being 65 feet long. There were 139 passengers today and we had an excellent adventure. Our Captains were Pete Hosemann and Mike Hosemann. This was built in 1982 and is classified as an Authentic Sidewheeler.
It was a foggy, foggy start. You could barely see the Big Mac Bridge.
The Creole Queen.
We got there nice and early and avoided most of the crowd.
The Chili Vision up on the Purple People Bridge.
B&B Riverboats.
Creole Queen Paddle Wheel.
Spirit of Cincinnati.
Fog and boats everywhere.
The Harriet Bishop.
The P.A. Denny.
Under the bridge to Newport, (The Taylor Southgate Bridge).
The Show Boat Majestic.
Abraham Lincoln, Mark Twain (Rip Taylor), Becky Thatcher, Jed Clampett...
Right around 10a, the sun came out and started burning off the fog.
Right under the Big Mac Bridge looking straight up. They are in the process of repainting it.

Finally lunch ! Joe's Crab Shack, we got here and there was NO crowd at all.
Mmmmm. Lunch. For appetizers we had side salads (I had blue cheese, Jimmy had Italian), crab balls and stuffed mushrooms. So far so good. It was quite tasty. For our entrees, I had fish and "chips", Jimmy had a harpoon (mahi mahi, shrimp, scallops wrapped in bacon, rice, veggies). It totally hit the spot. We'll definitely go back again.
We chowed down. Had doggy bags to boot.
The view from inside Joe's.
