Apple and Pear Sauce

2 tablespoons butter
2 tablespoons sugar
2 Golden Delicious apples, peeled, cored and cut into 1/2 inch chunks
2 Bosc or Bartlett pears, peeled, cored and cut into 1/2 inch chunks
1 tablespoon brandy
1 pint vanilla ice cream

Melt butter in large non stick skillet over medium heat. Add sugar and cook until sugar just begins to melt, 2 minutes. Stir in apples and pears. Increase heat to medium high. Cover and cook fruit 10 minutes, stirring frequently, until fruit is golden and tender. Add brandy and cook, uncovered, 1 minute more. Divide ice cream into 4 serving bowls; top each serving with Apple and Pear Sauce. Makes 4 servings.
