Yellow Pea and Chorizo Chowder

1 1 pound package dried yellow split peas, sorted and rinsed
4 cups water
1 10 ounce can condensed chicken broth
6 ounces smoked chorizo sausage
1/4 teaspoon salt
1/4 teaspoon pepper
1 cup 2 inch carrot strips
1 11 ounce can corn with red and green peppers

Combine all ingredients except corn in a 4 to 6 quart slow cooker and stir to mix. Cover and cook on low for 7 to 9 hours. Stir in corn about 10 minutes before serving. Increase heat to high, cover and cook 10 minutes longer. 6 servings.
