Up North Chili

1/2 pound dry pinto or kidney beans
2 28 ounce cans tomatoes
2 large green peppers, chopped
2 medium onions, chopped
2 cloves garlic
1/2 cups parsley
2 pounds ground beef
1 pound ground pork
2 1/2 tablespoons chili powder
1 teaspoon pepper

Wash beans. Put in a large bowl; add water to 2 inches above beans. Soak overnight. Simmer until softened; drain. Place in crockpot. Add tomatoes, green peppers, onions, garlic and parsley. In a large skillet saute ground beef and ground pork for 15 minutes; remove grease. Add meats to crockpot. Season with chili and pepper. Mix well. Cover and cook on low for 8 to 14 hours or on high for 4 to 5 1/2 hours, stirring occasionally. 6 to 8 servings.
